We were proud to take part in the International W@CompetitionTR Conference on Competition Enforcement in Antitrust and Cartels<\/strong>, hosted by Women@Competition TR<\/strong> on October 3rd, 2025<\/strong>, at \u0130stanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Law<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our firm was represented by Ay\u015fe \u00dclk\u00fc Yalaz<\/strong>, Partner of our M&A, IT and Privacy<\/strong> department, who spoke in the panel titled: \u201cCompetition Policy and Enforcement in Data-Driven Markets\u201d<\/strong>, perfectly moderated by Fabienne SIREDEY-GARNIER<\/strong>, Judge and Vice-President of the Autorit\u00e9 de la concurrence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session featured outstanding insights from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Ayata<\/strong> \u2013 who shared an academic view on DMA, DSA, and T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s current landscape
\u2013 Duygu Tan\u0131t<\/strong> (yemeksepeti.com) \u2013 who brought a platform counsel\u2019s perspective on compliance challenges
\u2013 Neyzar \u00dcn\u00fcbol<\/strong> \u2013 who focused on merger control filings, especially in relation to tech enterprises<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Closing the session, Ay\u015fe \u00dclk\u00fc Yalaz<\/strong> highlighted the increasing overlap between competition enforcement and data protection in tech M&A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also addressed the practical challenges faced by privacy and M&A lawyers, especially regarding timing, gun-jumping risks, and pre-\/post-merger assessments. She posed a critical question to regulators:
\u27a1\ufe0f Could there be a fast-track or simplified merger filing procedure for companies in financial distress or for low-\/zero turnover tech startups that urgently need funding?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also drew attention to a forward-looking concern: In the event that a Turkish equivalent of the DMA is adopted, platforms may face a significant increase in regulatory obligations \u2014 not only in terms of compliance volume, but also in navigating the complexities of being supervised by multiple authorities across competition, data protection, and e-commerce law. In this respect, she raised a thought-provoking question regarding regulatory design: Is such a proactive legislative approach necessary for digital platforms \u2014 especially given the complexity and rapid pace of innovation in digital markets?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The panel concluded with an excellent wrap-up by Fabienne SIREDEY-GARNIER<\/strong>, summarizing the key themes raised by all speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
